Regular Visit at Science North

Bring your class to Science North and give your students the advantage of learning about science through hands-on curriculum-linked programs delivered by our knowledgeable Bluecoats.

A school visit includes up to two (2) hands-on school programs and your choice of Object Theatre.

All educational experiences are booked in one-hour intervals. School programs are generally 50 minutes in length, with some exceptions. School programs are not offered on weekends, holidays, nor throughout the summer.

SCHOOL PROGRAM (40–50 minutes)

OBJECT THEATRE (15–30 minutes)

  • CLIMATE ACTION SHOW — Join Sheepy and his niece, Felicity, where you’ll enjoy a 19 minute, interactive, fast-paced science journey that prepares you with the knowledge and inspiration to join an active network of change agents.

  • READY, SET, MOVE! — Take your class on a journey into the world of healthy living, where movement-sensing technology allows their own activity to contribute to the story.

  • BETWEEN THE STARS — Journey deep into space and deep underground as we investigate the universe’s greatest mystery: dark matter!

Supervisors (adults accompanying a school group) are admitted free of charge to Science North’s science centre and Dynamic Earth. All adults must pay admission to IMAX® and Planetarium based on the discounted school prices.

The Science North IMAX® Theatre is now open to school! Choose one of the following films.

  • ASTEROID HUNTERS — Venture into deep space for a fascinating look at asteroids, their cosmic origins and the potential threat they pose to our world. Meet asteroid scientists and discover the cutting-edge tools and techniques they use to detect, track and study asteroids. Learn about the impressive technology that may one day protect our planet and find out why science is the only thing that can stop a fatal asteroid strike. Narrated by Star Wars star, Daisy Ridley, this documentary features actual footage and stunning simulations.

  • EVEREST — A dramatic, true account of dizzying achievement, Everest follows the expedition of four climbers on their journey to the summit of Everest, just days after the infamous 1996 tragedy in which eight climbers lost their lives in a deadly storm, a story chronicled in Jon Krakauer’s best-selling book, Into Thin Air.

  • GREAT BEAR RAINFOREST — Journey to a land of grizzlies, coastal wolves, sea otters and the all-white spirit bear — the rarest bear on earth — in the film, Great Bear Rainforest. Hidden from the outside world, the Great Bear Rainforest is one of the wildest places left on earth.

  • HIDDEN PACIFIC — Hidden Pacific profiles some of the Pacific Ocean's most beautiful islands and marine national monuments. The film explores the storied histories of Palmyra, Midway and other atolls through science and human stories.

  • INTO NATURE'S WILD — Step off the beaten path and connect to your inner trailblazer in this cross-country journey to some of the most beautiful but little-known landscapes of North America.

  • WINGS OVER WATER — Narrated by Michael Keaton, Wings Over Water takes you deep into the prairie wetlands. A largely unknown area of North America that millions of birds and animals call home. A place we need to protect.
