Interactive virtual science workshops, delivered live to your classroom.

Bring the Science North experience to your students without leaving the classroom. These live, synchronous e-Workshops are led by Science North Bluecoats through the video call platform of your choice. Each workshop is approximately 45 minutes long and includes an activity kit mailed directly to your school for students to use during the program and keep for continued learning afterward.

Matter and Energy

  • Magnets aren’t magic, but they are awesome! Students will explore the properties of magnetism using real tools to learn, observe and explore the world of magnets!
PRIMARY e-WORKSHOP

READY-SET-ACTION!

Structures and Mechanisms, Matter and Energy

  • Students will work to create their own balloon powered vehicle and learn about the Third Law of Motion in action! “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.”
JUNIOR e-WORKSHOP

BEADING IS CODING

Coding, Indigenous Ways of Knowing

  • This hands-on kit e-workshop weaves together Indigenous ways of knowing with fundamental coding concepts, showing how beading and coding share connections through variables, sequences, looping, and debugging. Students will create their own bracelets by writing a “code” then translating it into a physical design they can take home!
INTERMEDIATE e-WORKSHOP

CREATIVE CIRCUITS

Matter and Energy

  • Learn that electrical energy can be transformed into other forms of energy and the transmission of electricity happens through electrical circuits. Use conductive and insulating play dough, batteries, LEDs, motors and switches to explore series and parallel electrical circuits.
